Mourinho Masterclass or Abysmal Arteta? - My thoughts on the NLD, Tottenham 2-0 Arsenal...

Mourinho masterclass. Arsenal played right into Spurs’ hands and Jose set up his team perfectly for the win. Kane and Son’s partnership this season so far is proving to be a force hard to stop. Both with goals in this North London Derby.

Son opened the scoring in under 15 minutes with a well worked counter-attack from Spurs, after the first of many abysmal crosses from Bellerin. The cross left Hector out of position and Son had the whole of the left side to run into after an inch perfect pass from Kane.

Even with 5 players in the vicinity, Son remained calm and finessed an absolute beauty into Leno’s left corner. This goal now means that Son has scored the same amount of goals as the whole Arsenal team in the EPL, emphasising the Gunners’ weak threat going forward.

Tottenham added to the scoresheet just before HT after another shocking pass from Bellerin to a poorly positioned Aubameyang. Spurs hit Arsenal fantastically on the counter which was led by Lo Celso. Son gifted Kane the chance and he rifled it in the back of the net.

Arsenal started the second half well, dominating the ball with over 75% possession during the majority of the half. But like Arsenal’s season so far, they couldn’t finish their chances even after struggling to create them. Questions have to be raised with regards to the Arsenal squad now...

Why are regular names such as Bellerin and Xhaka, constantly getting into the starting XI after putting in shocking, embarrassing and dull performances? It’s frustrating to watch a professional footballer over 100k a week not able to beat the first man in a cross! Or complete a throw in without handing it to the opposition; and even giving away foul throws. Something that should be bread and butter for a footballer. Hojberg showed everyone today how that role in midfield should be played, someone Xhaka could learn a whole lot from!

That being said, I could say a lot more things about this Arsenal squad, but I’d just be repeating myself from last week's game against Wolves. It’s lacklustre, embarrassing and boring football to watch. Every single weekend this season. Aubameyang looks lost. Gabriel is frustrated. Partey is trying to carry the midfield on his own. Lacazette is busting his balls off in his new role. Tierney can be a world class fullback but sadly isn’t shining the way he can because of the poor team he’s playing with. Mikel Arteta is working with scraps and there is only so much he can do. This team simply isn’t good enough. Four different coaches have had the majority and core of this squad and look what’s happened to them. Wenger, Emery, Ljunberg and now sadly Arteta.

To conclude, even though Arsenal were again, unbelievably poor- Tottenham stuck to their game plan and were great.
